In April we had several students competing, most for the first time, at international competitions.

Australasian Schools Championships

Well done to Elena Hails, Josh Simpson and Heath Dibden for competing in kata and kumite. Congratulations to Luke Hails for silver in the -70kg cadet kumite.

Australian Open Championships

Well done to Josh Simpson for competing in kumite, getting better every event.

Huge congratulations to our medallists:

Sensei Peter Sbirakos, silver 45+ kata

Sempai James Walker, bronze -84kg U21 kumite

Sempai Luke Hails, silver -70kg cadet kumite

Eagle eyes would have spotted Sensei Tony Hails coaching Ishinryu students and Team Fiji, and Sensei Alison Peachey refereering on tatami 1. A huge, and satisfying, 4 days of competition.
