Chief Instructor of Ishinryu Karate NSW
Sensei Alison Peachey 7th Dan has been training with Ishinryu for over 35 years. She is the highest graded female Ishinryu instructor in the world.
Sensei Alison is the highest graded Ishinryu referee, ever. As a World Karate Federation Kumite Referee and Judge, and Oceania Kata Judge, Sensei Alison has officiated at World Championships (Venice 2024, Santiago 2019), Premier Leagues (Dubai, Shanghai, Tokyo, Fukuoka), a Youth League (Fujairah), and Pacific Games (Vila and Honiara). For over 20 years she has officiated at Continental and National Championships.



Sensei Alison is also a dedicated referee trainer, providing guidance to emerging and developing referees. She is a member of Karate Australia’s Referees commission, and the Chair of the Karate NSW Referees commission.
As a kumite athlete for Ishinryu, NSW and Australia, Sensei Alison won numerous titles and placings domestically and internationally. She won bronze for Australia at the 1999 Oceania Championships in Wellington and five consecutive Australian Open bronze medals. For 7 years she represented NSW; state champion three times, 12 minor placings. At age 39 (and with two infant children in tow) she became the NSW East Coast University kumite champion.
Sensei Alison’s dedication to martial arts is evident in her training and instructing experience. She has trained on Sensei Ticky Donovan OBE 10th Dan’s summer course in England four times, including the historic 50th anniversary course in 2023. She has also instructed at Canadian Ishinryu camps twice and participated in five AKF national training camps.
Sensei Alison is a silver (level 2) dojo instructor, as recognised by Sport Australia. She is continually innovating her teaching repertoire and developing her team of black belt instructors.
Sensei Alison is the Chief Instructor and a senior black belt instructor at Ishinryu Karate’s Menai dojo.
