Eamon’s first National Championships proved just how far he has come. A huge congratulations to Eamon on a terrific performance in the Cadet 70+kg division. He has progressed from the Development Division to the Elite ranks in just two seasons of competition.
His opening bout was against the athlete selected to represent Australia at the Junior World Championships. Eamon pushed him all the way before going on to fight for bronze himself. It was an outstanding performance that reflected his hard work and rapid development this tournament season.
What was particularly pleasing was seeing the work we’ve been doing at Saturday Squad come to life under national competition pressure. That’s exactly why we program our training the way we do.
Eamon’s performance is also a reminder of what’s ahead for all of our squad athletes. Over the next nine months we’ll be building towards the 2027 season: NSW Championships in March, the Australian Open in April and the National Championships in July.
