Sensei Phil Laing, chief instructor of Ishinryu in New Zealand, was graded to 6th Dan by Sensei Ticky Donovan OBE 9th Dan at our Summer Course in March.
This comes as Sensei Phil reached the milestone of 40 years with Ishinryu Karate. He has been a national competitor and coach for New Zealand at numerous World Championships, and spent 9 years in the Hombu in England.
