GOLD to Sensei Michael (completing the 3peat) and BRONZE to Sensei Carsten!!
Australian Open. 55+ kumite
🥇🥉👊
UPDATE
Cooper 🥉Athletes with a disability kata
First up on Friday: Pinan Yon performed to the best of his ability! This is the most wonderful event and very popular with the spectators. That’s Cooper second from the right 👇.

Sensei Carsten 🥉55+ kata
And there was Seienchin performed the best we’ve ever seen from Carsten! He won the first round, ultimately falling to the bronze medallist!55+ kumite: and another ripper of a performance! He beat the big American (our favourite, former US Marine and current lounge singer, ME Wilson snr) to set up a bronze medal. There Carsten is 👇on the far right.

Sensei Michael 🥇 55+ kumite
GOLD for the third year in a row! On the opposite side of the draw to Sensei Carsten, Michael won his bouts 3-0, 4-0, 8-0! Evidence of our Saturday squad training in play, with numerous punches and head kicks contributing to these extraordinary results.
☝️on the left and next to Sensei Michael is the silver medallist, Sensei Dion, who was his instructor for 5 years in Adelaide!
And in the gi is Oleg, who trains where our Sensei Neil began his karate!
What do we keep saying… adults benefit so much from play…
Eamon
Cadet 70kg+ and open kumite: for his first international competition, Eamon was a treat to watch.
We didn’t tell him that his first opponent won a WKF Youth League event in Mexico last year… and Eamon took it up to him. Whilst not winning, he caught the eye of a WA coach who was keen to chat and provide encouragement. This same opponent won the Cadet Open the next day.
So much learned before the Nationals in July 😊.
