Today in Sydney, Ishinryu’s NSW Chief Instructor Sensei Alison Peachey 7th Dan, with assistant instructor Sempai Nerralie Hunter 1st Kyu, successfully gained instructor accreditation at the Guardian Girls Karate Australia (GGKA) Instructor Course.
What a fabulous course, and it was led by the National Program Director, Liz Mahler ![]()
This wasn’t just a training day. The 8 hour hands-on intensive course led to instructor certification, and Sensei Alison and Sempai Nerralie are now accredited to deliver the GGKA program. Whilst extensively skilled in traditional and sport karate, they developed practical, self-defence based skills focused on building confidence, awareness, and real-world personal safety, and how to pass these skills on to others.
Ishinryu is now equipped to empower many more women and girls. This is how real change starts ![]()

We will first be introducing the course with our female students, and their mums and daughters and siblings. And then… broadening our impact and empowering women and girls in the wider community.
